  Victims of child abuse are at high risk of becoming  prostitutes in adolescence or as adults.  More than 50% of prostitutes  were sexually abused as children (Silbert & Pines, 1981: Bagley  & Young, 1987). 62% of females are sexually abused by age 18  (Finkelhor, David and J. Dzluba-Leatherman, Victimization of Children,  American Psychologist, Vol 49:3, 1992). 96% of teenage prostitutes were  sexually molested in childhood (CCPA, 1992). 

Over 75% of juvenile girls  identified as delinquent by court have been sexually abused. When they  run away from the abuse at home, they are often labeled as delinquent (  Calhoun et al, 1993).

Women who are sexually abused during childhood were 2.4 times  more likely to be victimized as adults as women who were not sexually  abused (Wyatt et al, 1992). Victims of father – daughter incest are four  times more likely than non – incest victims to be asked to pose for  pornography (Russell, 1986).

1st Corinthians 6:15-16, Do you not know your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never! (16) Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her body? For it is said, "Two will become one flesh." Perhaps you have used the services of a prostitute and have asked God for forgiveness. God's forgiveness is unconditional, but His promises are conditional. If you have truly sought God's forgiveness your sin will not be a repeated, deliberate occurrence.

Have you done the emotional introspection concerning your past to know what motivated you to commit such a crime against using and abusing another human being? While you were satisfying your sexual desires, the prostitute almost always dissociates in order to cope and survive the experience. Your sin was a secret sin of choice. Do you really think the prostitute engages in such activity because she likes sex? What were her choices in life?

Does she fear bodily harm if she doesn't provide her "pimp" with his desired wages? Is she used as a repeated money source for a sexual human trafficking ring? Does she have children who need to be fed, yet cannot get a job because she can't read or write? Is she supporting a drug habit while trying to forget the pain of being sexually molested since the age of 3 by her own father?

Self-introspection and answers to these questions go beyond a simple explanation of loneliness, insecurity, feeling inadequate, power, control, and/or abandonment issues, rejection, or you simply didn't have access to a sexual partner. All of these responses may or may not be true, but the real psychological issues of such behavior choices lie below and beyond such responses. They lie deep within the heart, mind, and soul of the offender and the prostitute for hire.

Proverbs 20:5, 'The purposes of a man's heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out." Without drawing out and understanding your hearts core by soul searching your past and present behavior, you are doomed to carry your problems with you and in all likelihood repeat your choices. If you turned to a prostitute once, you have opened the door for Satan to tempt you again with the same sexual ploy. Satan knows what pond you like to fish in, and he knows what bait to put on his hook to reel in his catch.

Maybe you've had a fight with your wife, or broken up with your girl friend. Perhaps your job was extremely stressful this week, or you were let go due to company downsizing. Life is filled with trials, tribulations, stress and anxiety. If you have used sex and prostitution services as an escape and self-indulgent coping mechanism in the past, Satan is keen on providing the lure of temptation to comfort your self-consuming emotional needs with a quick sexual fix once again.

What have you done to combat and avoid such temptation when it occurs? Have you sought out a Godly and wise same sex Christian mentor who can also help you as an accountability partner? What coping methods have you put in place to relieve stress you may experience at home or on your job, etc.? Are you going to a professional therapist to sort out your personal problems? Are you daily renewing and reviewing your relationship with God, reading His word and seeking His spiritual truth?

Prostitution is most often about the exchange of power and control. What have you done in your life to address these serious core personality and spiritual issues? Were you abused in your past? Bringing your personal pain to the surface of your life experience is a step in the right direction towards achieving inner healing, spiritual victory, transformation and renewal. We are each given an opportunity in life to function from a core-based spirit of Godly character and integrity.

We have no one to blame but ourselves for our personal choices in life, and our personal choices, like a ripple effect, touch the lives of those around you. Sin causes confusion and disillusionment. When you are in a right relationship with God spiritually, you have confidence and assurance God Himself will work everything out for your good (Romans 8:28).

Psalm 7:14-16, "He who is pregnant with evil and conceives trouble gives birth to disillusionment. (15) He who digs a hole and scoops it out falls into the pit he has made. (16) The trouble he causes recoils on himself; his violence comes down on his own head." Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows (Galatians 6:7).
