HOW CAN I HELP A CHRISTIAN FRIEND/MINISTRY WORKER WHO IS A SEX ADDICT?

If you have a friend who is suppose to be a Christian and is an active, nonchalant sex addict who comes to you for help, lead him or her to the word of God. I have often heard unrepentant addicts claim the grace of God as a cover for their repetitive sin. God's word offers a clear response to their life choices. "This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth." - 1st John 1:5-6.
Christians are to walk in the newness of Christ's spirit and revelation (Romans 6:3-5). Believers "do not" enjoy sin (2nd Peter 2:7-8). As Christians, we walk in obedience to God's word (1st John 2:3). We pursue peace with all men, which includes all those (male and female alike), whom the sex addict strives to deceive (Hebrews 12:14). True Christians seek sanctification (becoming more like Christ each and every day), without which no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).
Jesus replied, "Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me." - John 14:15-21. To those who dismiss their sin under the coverage of God's grace I remind them of the "fear" of God. "To fear God is to hate evil." - Proverbs 8:13. "Who will not fear you O Lord, and bring glory to your name?" - Revelation 15:4.
If a sex addict lives in sin due to being tempted by pornography on the Internet, television, magazines, job, or any other sin trigger that may occur within their life the solution is easy. Get rid of the computer, television, magazines, media, job and triggers that are tempting you to act out! As Christians we are to live our life consecrated and dedicated to His word, His will, and His ways. For it is written: "Be holy, because I am holy." - 1st Peter 1:16.
That doesn't mean we will be perfect for we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. But it does mean we as Christians will "strive" to be holy. If you know something is a temptation why would you place yourself in a situation that could trigger you to sin? "No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other..." - Matthew 6:24.
Steve Gallagher, 53, founder of Pure Life Ministries in 1986, does not advocate dependence on psychotherapy, psychologists, support groups, deliverance services, Internet filters and accountability partners in seeking spiritual restitution. He is quoted by Christianity Today, 3/7/2008 - as stating, "Biblical accountability was never meant to be a group of men sitting in a circle discussing their failures."
Most men, Gallagher believes, and I agree most women who are sexually addicted too, are not willing to sever old habits that lead to sin, such as watching whatever they want on television. Gallagher writes in At the Altar of Sexual Idolatry, "A man can go to psychologists, support groups, or deliverance services, ...He can be prayed for by a famous evangelist or commit himself to a sexual-addiction clinic, but if he wants to overcome habitual sin, he must learn to walk in the Spirit." Gallagher goes on to say self-help tools such as Internet filters and accountability partners can help for a season, but until a man experiences real repentance, he will remain stuck in sexual sin. Gallagher is 100 percent correct!

We all sin and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23), however, we as Christian's do not "deliberately" commit sins in a repeated addicted manner. "Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On The contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God." - 2nd Corinthians 4:2. "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" - 2nd Corinthians 6:17.
"Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death." - 2nd Corinthians 7:10. "We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take every thought to make it obedient to Christ." - 2nd Corinthians 10:5. "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. The man who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life." - Galatians 6:7-8.
"Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for it is light that makes everything visible,"... - Ephesians 5:11-13.
"We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God." - 2nd Corinthians 5:20.
"AN ADDICT IN DENIAL WILL ALWAYS STRIVE TO PROTECT
HIS ADDICTION SUPPLY"
An addict in denial will strive to protect and preserve their addiction supply as their reasoning is controlled by their obsessive-compulsive mindset. Using projection they may even try to blame you for their sins of acting out using pornography, cybersex, massage polars, prostitutes, escorts, incest, your niece, nephew, neighbor, or friends young son or daughter, the family dog or cat (bestiality), or other sexually deviant activities. Sin and addiction strongholds are always escalating (James 1:13-15).
You will never be able to help an addict recover, only God can do that (Ephesians 3:20-21). The best way to help an addict is to lead them to the truth within God's word and pray for them. The answers to all our problems in life are answered within the word of God.

With such a man do not even eat. What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? God will judge those outside. "Expel the wicked man from among you." - 1st Corinthians 5:9-13.
